Privacy Policy

Kaal Yatra ("we," "the game," "this site") is a personal, non-commercial project. This policy explains what data is and isn't collected when you play.

The short version

We don't have accounts, we don't collect your name or email, we don't use analytics cookies, and we don't sell personal data. Your scores, streaks, badges, and best results stay on your own device.

What we collect

Anonymous, aggregate analytics. We use GoatCounter, a privacy-focused analytics tool that does not use cookies and does not track you individually, together with Vercel Web Analytics. These services record aggregate information such as:

  • Which pages were visited and when
  • General location (country-level, not precise)
  • Device/browser type
  • Which site referred you here (if any)
  • Anonymous in-game events (e.g. "a round was completed") to understand how the game is used

This data cannot be used to identify you personally, and is not linked to any account, since there are no accounts.

Anonymous performance measurements. Vercel Speed Insights collects web performance measurements such as loading speed, responsiveness, and visual stability. These measurements help us find slow or unstable parts of the site.

Your game progress — scores, streaks, badges, and best results — is stored only in your browser's local storage, on your own device. It is not included in analytics or performance reports. If you clear your browser data or switch devices, this progress is gone; we have no copy of it and no way to recover it.

What we don't collect

  • No names, emails, or phone numbers
  • No passwords or accounts
  • No payment information
  • No location data beyond the country-level estimate analytics provide
  • No cookies, no cross-site tracking, no advertising identifiers

Third-party services this site uses

  • OpenStreetMap — provides the map tiles you interact with while playing. Loading a map tile is a standard request to their servers, same as any map on the web.
  • Supabase — hosts the game's content (puzzle rounds, photographs) and infrastructure. It does not receive any personal data about you as a player.
  • Vercel — hosts the website and provides anonymous Web Analytics and Speed Insights.
  • GoatCounter — as described above.

None of these services receive your name, email, or any other personal identifier from us, because we don't have that information to give them.

Children's privacy

This site does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect personal information from any visitor.

Changes to this policy

If what this site collects ever changes (for example, if accounts are added in the future), this page will be updated and the date above will change accordingly.
